Widgets and Modules and Feeds (Oh, my!)
Don't you wish that you could have the latest Jenius posts anywhere you wanted them? I know that I do. So when I'm on the run and only have time to check my news sheets, visit a portal, or boot up my computer, I'm glad that I can get the latest posts wherever I am.
What the heck am I talking about? Well, here you will find different ways to view the latest Jenius posts without having to come to this site. There are a Google module, two RSS feeds using two different versions for a total of four RSS possibilities, and a Yahoo! Widget.
Google Module
|
If you have a Google Account it's easy to add the Jenius module to your personalized page. The module will show you the main text, including those cute little smilies, of the latest Jenius post.
To install the module, go to your Google Homepage and follow these steps:
- Click the "Add Content" link at the upper left of your screen.
- Expand the "Create a Section" list, if it isn't already expanded.
- Put "http://jenius.phrebh.com/latestpost.php" in the field.
- Click "Go".
It will add the latest post module to your page and you'll be able to move it anywhere you'd like.

RSS Feeds

What is RSS and why would I use it?
RSS has too many possible meanings for me to go into, but sufficed to say, it is a convenient way of tracking news and information from multiple sources in one location. There are several benefits to using RSS feeds:
- They allow you to receive published information without the threat of viruses sent to your email account.
- They offer readers the chance to receive information on only the topics they are interested in, and from only the sources they request.
- Because you don't have to formally subscribe to use them, you don't need to give out your email address.
- They show you the very latest information that you are interested in.
How do I start using RSS feeds?
The only thing you need to start using RSS feeds is a reader. Some browsers include built-in readers (check the on-line help). You can also find several readers just by doing a web search. One of the easiest, and therefore best, ways is to sign up for a free account with MSN, Yahoo!, or Google. All of these have the capability of accepting RSS feeds.
Once you have your reader in place you can subscribe to any number of feeds. For most sites that offer RSS feeds, you will see an orange logo with "XML" or "RSS" on the page you can subscribe to. Right-click on the logo and choose "Copy Link Location", or its variant, and then paste it into your readers add content page.
