Jacqueline Johnson took umbrage at the use of the terms "fables" and "myths" to describe many of the stories we learn about the birth of the U.S. She says that the "history" she learned inspired the patriotism that has "served us so well."
Um...that's the point of making a myth out of facts. Instead of feeling embarrassed for being tricked (which is obviously the case), she should embrace the use of hyperbole and lies to make this country better.
Allow me to question talk for a moment. Did George Buchheit point to fiction to get people to learn more about the real Benedict Arnold? Yes, he did.
Props to William Neff for speaking out against the new bi-weekly format with the word "fortnight".
