01/26/2006: "Headhunters"

"What's the matter with this country? Can't a man walk down the street without being offered a job?" - Waylan Smithers

I try to keep my resume up to date on Dice.com, but it's not really to my benefit to do so. I put very clearly in my profile that I'm only interested in business-to-business contracts, but apparently most headhunters can't read. I actually wouldn't mind so much if it were the hiring companies contacting me, but 9 out of 10 calls or emails I get are from consulting agencies, not the companies themselves.

Usually, I'll just delete any emails that I get from headhunters, or even companies, because they aren't what I'm looking for. I'm just trying to use my resume to generate business for the company I work for now. I like my company, and I would like to stay with them, so I try to get them new business so that I can work on different things. Essentially I want the benefit of not getting stuck in a rut while also not having to go through the pain of switching jobs every so often.

I know that some people would say that I shouldn't be complaining when so many others can't even get one job offer, much less have people beating down their door, and I'm not. I just wish that I didn't have to be bothered by people who aren't doing me or themselves any good. Although I do sometimes get a gem. Here is one of the requirements for a job writing DXL scripts: "A very high level of communication skill to support and interact with internal and external customers, including engineering personnel." The manager who wrote this up just admitted that he thinks his engineers are no exactly human. LOL The truth comes out!

If you need any custom DXLs written, drop me a line to learn about availibility and rates.

If you don't know what the heck those are, don't worry about it, most people don't.

I didn't know engineers were human, either. However, having said that, I married one. LOL
