How I'm feeling: Frustrated

I've been trying to get a basic chatroom set up for the site, but it's not been going well. The one that comes with my domain is a joke. And I'm not in the mood for one of these multi-location java server chat servers that are around. So that leaves me with very few options: not having one, or coding it myself.

I did a search on my favorite code source site (Planet Source Code) and found some passable examples in various languages. I'm on my third or fourth try, I can't remember which, and I think I've found something useful. But it's still not working! I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the changes I've implemented.

On a side note for you English majors out there: Yes, I know that using implement as a verb is an affront to nature, but I am an engineer (even if only in title).
